Rowing Fleet and Facilities Officer

About the position

The role of the Rowing Fleet and Facilities Officer at St Peter’s College ensures the School’s fleet of rowing shells and associated equipment is kept in good working order to maximise the life of individual craft. The Rowing Fleet and Facilities Officer is expected to undertake both the remedial and preventative maintenance of the Rowing Club’s equipment and boats to minimise disruption to rowing training and competition programs. The Rowing Fleet and Facilities Officer will undertake the majority of repairs and maintenance on site at the School’s Victoria Drive (River Torrens) boathouse or at our West Lakes boatshed. This position is being offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract (0.8 FTE) and is available from the beginning of Term 4.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking repairs to boats and equipment.
  • Assessing the ‘wear and tear’ on all boats and undertaking off-season refurbishment of identified craft and equipment as required.
  • Inspecting all boats and equipment to identify unreported defects and remedy these to prevent escalation of problems.
  • Maintaining the general tidiness and functionality of the Torrens and West Lakes Boathouses and their surrounds.

As the successful applicant, you will:

  • Have previous experience in a similar role.
  • Have experience working with composites predominantly carbon fibre.
  • Have towing experience.
  • Have excellent communication skills and experience working with a large cross section of age groups.
  • Be committed to the ethos of an independent Anglican school.
  • Hold a current driver’s licence.
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check (Department of Human Services).
