About St Peter’s College

We are a school with a rich tapestry of history and tradition. St Peter’s College was founded in 1847, just 11 years after South Australia was established. The first classes were held at the Holy Trinity Church on North Terrace before we moved to our current Hackney location in 1850.

 

The first Anglican Bishop of Adelaide, Augustus Short, was instrumental in establishing St Peter’s College in the tradition of the great public schools of England. In 1890 the School adopted its motto ‘Pro Deo et Patria’ (‘For God and Country’) to inspire and motivate the boys.

 

We are honoured to have been educating the minds, hearts and spirits of students for 175 years. We are proud of our old scholars and their contributions to society and our illustrious alumni include three Nobel Laureates, 10 Australian premiers and 42 Rhodes Scholars.

Position Summary

Our history holds a significant place in the vison, values and strategic direction of our School today. We understand the importance of collecting, conserving and managing archival records.

 

St Peter’s College is currently seeking applications for an Archivist.  The School Archivist is responsible for collecting, accessioning, conserving, managing and restoring records, archival material pertaining to the School as well as the development, maintenance and provision of a records management system.

 

As the successful applicant you will have:

  • Contemporary experience working in records management.
  • Knowledge of preservation and conservation principles.
  • The ability to build excellent relationships with colleagues, old scholars and parents.
  • A commitment to the promotion of a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • A willingness to support the School’s values and Anglican ethos.
